This monday I had the opportunity to hear Mat Tizard (@mtizard) give the most concise and fitting definition of a creative technologist:
Someone who utilizes the newest and most appropriate technologies to serve a creative purpose and create an innovative outcome.
That’s what I got from it, although his definition was a little more elegant.
To him, some of the most interesting things lie in between the disciplines. The combination of the wonders of science and the beauty of art. And I couldn’t agree more.
I mean if you think about it, they aren’t two different. All types of design involve some math and symmetry, whether it’s art or engineering.
He showed us some of the projects that he has worked on as the head Creative Technologist. The V Motion Project at Calenso:
And Beck’s Edison Bottle at Shine:
To me, it seems like a creative technologist is a kind of interface for the designers and the programmers. Sounds like a pretty cool gig.
